About University College MAIWP International (UCMI)
Overview & History
University College MAIWP International (UCMI) is owned by The Malaysian Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) and was established in 1993 as a Nursing School. Initially known as Pusat Rawatan Islam Sdn Bhd and later Kolej Kejururawatan Pusrawi, it began offering Diploma in Nursing Sciences in 2003. In 2010, new management rebranded the institution to Pusrawi International College of Medical Sciences (PICOMS) and expanded its offerings from one program to 32 programs, including diplomas, degrees, and master’s to PhD levels, recognized by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency.
UCMI also engages in entrepreneurship activities through the PICOMS Trade and Service Centre, which includes the PICOMS Healthcare Centre, PICOMS Academy, and PICOMS Trade Centre, providing practical experience and job opportunities for students. In 2018, UCMI achieved University College status and now has over 4000 active students and 7500 alumni. Following the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2015-2025, UCMI aims to establish a WAQF University to support Asnaf students, improve their families’ economic status, and foster holistic development in students to build a better nation.
