Overview & History
Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) is one of Malaysia’s leading technical universities, established on 20 August 2002 under the Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), an agency of the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development. It was created to support Malaysia’s aspiration of becoming a hub for high-tech education, research, and innovation. UniKL operates on a “one university, multiple campuses” concept, with over 12 branch campuses strategically located across Malaysia, each focusing on specific fields such as engineering, medical sciences, aviation, marine technology, business, and information technology. The university emphasizes hands-on learning, industry-driven curriculum, and entrepreneurship, producing skilled graduates who are highly employable worldwide. Today, UniKL hosts more than 30,000 local and international students from over 60 countries, offering diploma, bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD programs.
