Florida Atlantic University (FAU), established in 1961, is a public university located in Boca Raton, Florida, and part of the State University System of Florida. Opening its doors in 1964 as the first university in the country designed for upper-division and graduate students only, FAU later expanded to offer a full undergraduate program by 1984. The university has grown substantially over the decades, now serving more than 30,000 students across multiple campuses in South Florida, including locations in Dania Beach, Davie, Fort Lauderdale, Jupiter, and Port St. Lucie.
FAU is classified as a “High Research Activity” institution by the Carnegie Foundation, with notable strengths in neuroscience, ocean engineering, business, and biomedical research. Its John D. MacArthur Campus in Jupiter is home to prestigious research partnerships, including those with Scripps Research and the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience. Entry Requirements
- English (3 with substantial composition): 4 units
- Mathematics (Algebra 1 level and above): 4 units
- Natural Science (2 with lab): 3 units
- Social Science: 3 units
- Foreign Language (of the same language): 2 units
- Academic Electives: 2 units
Total: 18 units
First-time incoming international students who are not educated in a U.S.-based or IB curriculum MUST have their high school records evaluated by a NACES-accredited evaluation agency.
- Minimum equivalent GPA of B on a scale of A to F or 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, (Average of 50% or B. Scale of 0-100 in Bangladesh)
- Applicants should achieve the Higher Secondary Certificate or its equivalent and submit final official transcripts.
- Minimum equivalent GPA of C on a scale of A to F or 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for all transferable courses. If there are fewer than 60 transferable credits, high school transcripts and SAT/ACT scores must be submitted.
- Must be in good academic standing at your previous institution.
- Must submit official transcripts from ALL colleges or universities attended, including dual enrollment credits while still in high school.
- Any students receiving credits through exam programs such as AP, AICE, IB, and CLEP must have test scores sent directly from the testing agency to Florida Atlantic University. FAU will not accept test credit from another institution’s transcript.
