Concordia University Chicago is a private, Lutheran-affiliated institution located in River Forest, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Founded in 1864 by the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod as a teacher training college, the university was originally known as Addison Teachers Seminary. It relocated to its current River Forest location in 1913, and over time, evolved into a full-fledged university. The name officially changed to Concordia University Chicago in 2006, reflecting its broadened academic scope and growing global reach. Today, CUC offers more than 100 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs across diverse disciplines, including education, business, health care, theology, and the arts and sciences. With a history spanning more than 160 years, Concordia University Chicago continues to uphold a tradition of excellence in faith-based education, leadership development, and service to the community.
